PLACES LIKE PEOPLE
“Some places are like people: some shine…and some don’t.”
I am pleased to share that my poem Places Like People was accepted for publication in the Summer 2023 Edition of the eMerge Magazine by Joy Clark and the fine folks at The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow.
You can read it now for FREE on the eMerge website which can be found by using the Google machine OR clicking this link or the image below.
This is my first piece of published poetry (not including the self-published collection Culaccino) which I find fitting considering the poem was inspired by Shirley Jackson and Stephen King. I love that my first piece of published poetry is a horror poem :)
The title of the piece is taken from a quote in The Shining, which I put above, while the inspiration is a combination of the aforementioned Stephen King novel, Kubrick’s adaptation, and my stay last year at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, AR.
Thanks again to Joy Clark and eMerge! I hope you all enjoy the poem.
